Meet the Team
Dianne (Head Teacher)
Kia Ora whanau, Ko Dianne toku ingoa. I have 7 years’ experience in the early childhood sector and I am happy to be here teaching at Shining Lights Christian Preschool. My teaching practice is influenced by Kaupapa Maori principals. This allows me to form relationships where I believe all tamariki have the ability to lead and direct their own learning.
Tess (Admin/Support Person)
I have recently returned to Shining Lights and am delighted to rejoin an amazing, caring centre that puts children first. I believe early childhood is a time of incredible growth, learning and laying foundations that will last for life. I view it as an honour and privilege to support your children through these years in a safe, caring and enriching environment like Shining Lights. I look after administration and bits and pieces to support Dianne and the team. I look forward to meeting you and your family!
Jo (Qualified Teacher)
In my practice, I aim to support children’s well-being and be understanding and respectful to their individual differences. I am committed to showing sensitivity to children’s differences in the pace they grow at, especially at the period of 0-3 years of age as it is optimal for brain development. I believe children should be able to investigate and discover answers to their queries. I am committed to providing opportunities for children to further their learning and offer complexity in their play. I believe children should be encouraged to take charge of their learning where they may be involved in risk taking to master certain skills. I will offer support and appropriate supervision to not hinder the skills mastered in the learning moment.
One ( Asssistant Teacher)
I have been part of the Shining Lights team since it's inception, and have been on the relieving team for a number of years. I love working with children. Morals and values are important to me. I will include this in the way I interact with children. I truly believe that when morals and values are instilled in children it will benefit them later on in life when they are adults.
Pastor Fa'aso'o ( Chairman)
I believe the aim of the church is to provide quality education and spiritual growth for the children and their families in this community of Grey Lynn. Being the pastor of this church and father of the preschool ministry I do my utmost to see that this is fulfilled.
Aaseesa Gopaldasani (Qualified Teacher) (on maternity leave)
I believe that children are the future assets and the first five years of children's life are the most significant for their development. During these years they build foundation for a life-long learning, healthy well being and success. I believe that all children can learn and develop in an environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to children's abilities and provide holistic learning experiences to our children. I believe all children have their unique contributions to their learning journey. I strongly believe in the partnership and value the importance of responsive and respectful relationship between teachers, children, parents and families. I feel there should be a connection made with children's parents/whanau in order to know their aspirations for their children and to learn more about each child. As this gives the opportunity for the teacher to know children's interest and extend on it further.
Poli (Centre Manager)
As future citizens of tomorrow, I would like for all children who come through our Shining Lights door to leave with our core values and the Christian faith instilled within them.
